So just upgraded my Wheels to Ultregra Tubeless, I don't have tubeless tyres so reverted to Tubes.

Can any good quality road tyre be used tubeless.

Nope. Have to be a tubeless specific road tyre. An ordinary road tyre will blow off the rim. I use Hutchinson Atom Galaktik

There is a tubeless road wheel thread somewhere.

the problem is also that shimano advises against using sealant with their tubeless rims, so even less chance of using a normal tyre.

how they expect you to run tubeless dry I 'll never know.

ive had schwalbe ones on my easton ea90 tubeless rims with sealant and it worked well.

just didnt like the soft tyre compound that wears quick.

now im running hutchinson atoms (also with sealant) and they seem a bit harder.

only other option in sa that i know of would be the schwalbe ironman tyres which are also not very hard.

lastweek i ran tubular gatorskins with sealant on one 2hr ride just for interest sake and it worked fine except that i would have to pump the wheels before every ride as it lost a lot of pressure through the mesh(ish) walls.

i cant imagine running tubeless tyres WITHOUT SEALANT.

Schwalbe seems to be the most readily available and recommended.

Other I've seen is Hutchinson Fusion 3.

Big difference with tubeless seems to be bead and sidewall.
