Hi guys, can one of you clever okes maybe help in explaining the diffensce on the shocks between these two bikes

1 : Scott Spark 2014 920

2 : Giant Anthem X Advanced 2014

the Scott has a FOX 32 Float Evolution CTD Air | 100 mm | 15 mm QR axle | tapered steerer | rebound adjust and FOX Nude / SCOTT custom | CTD | remote

the Giant has a Fox 32 Float RL CTD Performance, w/15mm thru-axle, OverDrive 2 steerer, 100mm travel and Fox Float CTD Performance

is there a difference between these shocks except for the remote? which is better?

the performance is better. It is the next tier while the evolution is the entry level.

Take into account that they might have a custom tune for the bike they are fitted to.

The Performance fork has a FIT cartridge damper against the useless creation that is the now-discontinued Evolution open cartridge damper. The Performance shock has a boost valve and useful rebound damping, against the EVO which has neither.

Basically the Performance range kicks the EVO out of the park.

The only benefits to the Scott system are the remote and the reduced travel "traction control" mode on the shock, if that's your thing. In all other aspects the improved reliability and performance of the Giant kit are well worth it.

I have a 2014 Anthem with a Fox Float 29" CTD Evolution fork and Fox Float CTD Evolution shock. Is it possible to upgrade them to Performance  level?

Anything's possible if you throw enough money at it...

thank you, I must say I liked the remote from Scott, is the Scott's traction mode different to the one on Giant? both are CTD, looks like both are the same shock although the Scott says NUDE on it

Very different inside. The Nude has a valve inside that reduces the air volume in trail mode, which effectively reduces available travel. It also has a full lockout, against the platform valve on the Giant.

I see, thanks,

I have set the damper at about the same level on both bikes, same psi on forks and shock on both bikes, the Giant feels much plusher that what the Scott felt, both 2014 bikes, the Scott is a 2014 920 and the Giant is a Anthem X Advanced, I am a big Scott fan, but must say the Giant is impressing me quit a bit, the one thing that worries me though is that the Anthem looks like it would need more maintanance

Nope

? why?

Nope

It looks like the shock sitting at the bottom attracts more dirt and dust than the ones sitting below the top tube, I asked my friend google and it seems like my assumption on the shock sitting low is just way off,
