why would it be harsh??  is it harsh if i judge your results?? we are in the same boat.. i ride for fun, I'm an unpaid cyclists that enjoys racing my bike. at the end of the month no money comes into my account from racing. ( exactly the same as you.) I'm blessed with parents that suppport me and my expenses every month. So why should i have pressure to be competitive. i race as hard as i want. naturally im competitive and try to do my best. you seems to have this misconseption that all us guys that ride fast are earning furtunes in money and have to answer for bad results. I earn zero salary from racing i do it for the love of riding. if i win I'm happy if i come last I'm happy and i have no one to answer for it. so why belittle my result at epic. Some european teams run on budgets in excess of hundreds of euros yet you seem to think we should beat them. bottom line i love riding if i come first or last so what.. i do it for me..

I don't think you're being honest with yourself, Max.

You're a paid rider who has big sponsors (Biogen/Volcan), you've been sponsored a top-end bike, kit, supplements and so on. You compete in big races and can hold you're own against some of the best riders in the world. I don't think that you're just out there for fun. You're out there to win and make money. The fun is ancillary.

I know that the majority of our riders aren't rolling in the cash, but there are quite a few who live very comfortably on the back of their hard work.

It was never my intention to belittle your Epic result. It's something I could never achieve, much the same as the career I have is something you might never be able to achieve.

All things aside, I do think you have a lot of talent and would benefit from a strong team, such as RECM. If you could get in there, RECM would have you to dominate the local XCM scene and Reid the XCO.
