dre Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Hi all Rode at Meerendal Saturday morning. It was great, until I reached my car and realised that my car key is missing. Must have slipped out of my shirt pocket on some of the more bumpy tracks. My friend and me did some of the track again to look for it, but realised it would be very optimistic to find it if it fell out and hopped into the grass or into a stream. After a while we gave up and I got a lift to fetch my spare key. If anyone has maybe found a black remote car key, please PM me. It wasn't on any key chain. I'm holding thumbs that someone accidentally looked down long enough to see it, as these things don't come cheap. Thanks!
dre Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Oh yes. Forgot to mention, as a reward I will throw in a case of beer
dre Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Another thing. I did mostly the black route, sometimes followed blue arrows. Was my first time there so don't know the routes names etc. Don't think it would be on the Stairway to Heaven, but anywhere down from there is a possibility. This is also a bump for the not so early risers
KarlvN Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 But back to the OP, no sorry, I rode there on Saturday for a good couple laps, and I saw no key. Will keep my eyes peeled.

Oh I don't know... thought it was black, maybe I'm a bit colour blind. Take it all the markers are blue Sun was in my eyes most of the time, so the blue arrows probably looked black haha

But I digress..OP - think I may ride there this morning and will look, I know the bumpy bits so will keep an eye open
Tubehunter Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Hope you find your key dre! Happened to me once too. Now I always ride with my key in a resealable mini freezer bag with a label and my contact number and name in it. If I lose it and someone finds it, they can call me straight away. As a side bonus, I worry less about what happens with sweaty rides and rainy conditions as the key is slightly protected in the bag!

It's usually with my tools in my toolbag, but that was too full (took two extra CO2 bombs with this morning) and no-one got a flat offcourse.
Nickster Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I rode there at around 7am on Saturday, hit something on the trail which went into the grass on the side...its by the U-turn after the pump track before you drop down into the little valley. It didn't look like a car key but you never know

Bobbo_SA Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Post your strava route for the ride, perhaps someone would be willing to follow it and keep a lookout.
