George MTB TRAILS

The Saasveld forestry college has a really nice, compact, XC loop through some pristine forests. Fast, flowing.

Starts at far end of the rugby fields, next to the double-story hostel.

For the rest: just go to the Garden Route trail park in Barrington and forget about any family responsibilities. Turn-off just as you exit Sedgefield. It is pretty phenomenal.

Going to George for 4 days where can i ride in the immediate vicinity?  Looking for some nice trails , any advice?

Just returned from that area. One word - Garden Route Trail Park (ok that's 4 words - it's that good). Also Harkerville is very lekker, but Garden Route for the win.

Also at Garden Route Trail Park do all the different loops - they all offer something different. There is also a nice restuarant/cafe at the start/finish.

Saasveld XC loops, Witfontein XC and Downhill trails,  go and climb Montaque Pass lots of farm roads etc, all free to ride, to go into Jonkersberg you need to be member of the Hillbillies, go and ride Garden Route Trail Park, it is awesome, also Hakerville thats Knysna Plett side, Contact me if you down here, I might just have free time and will show you Saasveld trails, but my time is limited with 2 kids and another one due next month....

Im also going to wilderness for 3 days...

The Graden Route Trail Park, different distances and elevations?

4 different loops between about 10 and 16 km. Longest has about 380m climbing. It's not about the distance there, it's about the fun.

Saasveld trails are fun, but I tend to do the Witfontein trails when visiting the inlaws in George because it starts just down the road form them.

If you are up for a challenge do the Montague pass, lots of fun descending after the big climb!

Anyone in the area keen on a ride or to show me the Saasveld trails etc? I'm in Wilderness for a couple days....

I can't show you, but I highly reccommend Wotfontein trails - was in George earlier this year for one of my wife's work functions, so I took the bike with with the intention of going to GRTP, but found some nice segmenrs on Strava less than a km from the guest house we were staying in - ended uo just riding there the next three days it was that good! It's not marked, but you can go onto trailforks and find a few of the segments there - from there just explore.

It is really some of the most amazing trails I have ridden. Natural, rooty, rocky, and techy climbs as well as some really challenging descents all under some pretty spectacular forest.
