Velouria Posted April 14, 2015 Share Er... how can you start a serious discussion about pro level road shoes without mentioning the new Shimano R321s? Degenkolb wore them yesterday at Paris-Roubaix ;-) 1409096825467-1j075id26f1ir-700-80.jpg I'm not a Shimano fan (well, I wasn't) until I got hold of a pair of SH-R320's from last year. Very nice indeed.http://www.fiets.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/SH-R320.jpg This year, we're fortunate to be sponsored the SH-R171s, which is almost the same as the SH-R321s, just without the moulding and not as stiff. Still very nice: http://static.jensonusa.com/images/Color-Image/Zoom/212/G0001A9M.jpg Both shoes cater for broader feet, while being super light and comfy. If I can do a long ride and not have to think about my feet, then I know the shoes are doing their job. Both pairs do that.
Long Wheel Base Posted April 14, 2015 Share I have both the S-Works and the new louis garneau LS 100 carbon. Both super light and comfy. But on my spez the boa dial can be turned both ways(so tighten and loosen) but on the LG it can only tighten(to loosen you pull it and then just stretch the shoe). Personally I sometimes like to loosen my shoes while racing.

Underachiever Posted April 14, 2015 Share Been riding Spez Road and MTB shoes for years - great shoes, pricey. Then bought a pair of Gaerne shoes (similar to the Oranges) ones last year - great shoes, pricey!!! Then tried a pair of Suplest shoes from Chris Willemse - they were on special - no BOA system, but I love them, especially since they were more than half the price of the Spez and Gaerne's

Patchelicious Posted May 7, 2015 Share So I ended up going for the Spez S-Works as thats what I was using on MTB. Went to Concept Cyclery Cedar and asked what they had in my size, had a set of Cav Editions. Was happy, bought them. Went on a ride to test them. Found that the 44 was a tad too big for me.Took them back to exchange them and was told that because I had put cleats on them that I couldn't exchange them, simple as that no if buts or whens or lets make a plan. I was told to go sell them on the Hub...... Conversation did not go well as you can imagine, and needless to say I wont go back again. But I'm not here to argue about them. I got in my car and drove to the next nearest Spez stockist, being Complete Cyclist, they had a pair of 43s in stock, put them on felt much better and bought them. Now you can imagine the *** I'm in for buying 2 pairs of S-Works shoes in 1 week I asked them that if they are a bit tight, if I could bring them back and they said of course. So here is my question, the right foot does feel a little tight right behind my little toe on the right foot, just there at the widest part of the foot, everything else is perfect. Are these shoes going to stretch a bit? If not, seeing as that I probably wont find a Spez 43.5 which shoes are slightly wider as standard? ps: for those who want a cool pair of 44 S-Works click herehttps://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&module=core&do=view_item&item_id=135263&new=

Fujiman Posted May 7, 2015 Share There will soon be a new Shoe brand available on our SA shelves. FLR have been making a big noise in Europe with great quality at very affordable price points. FLR have a great range from entry level to high end in road, triathlon and MTB. Keep checking your stores as stock arrives in June. www.flr-shoes.com

I bought 43's instead of 44's and could not swop them. Personally I would do the swop for the Gaerne's, but to answer your question - the Spez shoes will stretch a bit - took mine about 4-5 weeks to stretch to a "44". They were still tight, but not too hot feet many issues. I think you will be fine if your real size is a 43.5.
