J∆kk∆ls Posted May 22, 2015 Share Post pics of the broken bolts. Maybe a better solution can be provided if the area of failure is visible.Bolts came off in the dark and where gone before I realized what happened.
BarHugger Posted May 22, 2015 Share Bolts came off in the dark and where gone before I realized what happened. Can it be that they were not tightened properly and wiggled themselves loose? Have seen this happen before. Solution then is easy.....buy new bolts, DIY according to Copperheads guidelines and apply some Loctite.......just to be sure. UpShift_Cycles Posted May 22, 2015 Share I don't think you breaking them, I believe they are coming loose and falling out. Same thing happened to me with my Rotor crank. When installing the new ones just add a small drop of lock tight to the thread and you sorted.
the nerd Posted May 22, 2015 Share Yeah I have never broken bolts.. lost some Bent pedals.. Also I've tried to use Campy bolts on my ss where possible otherwise the problem solvers ones as they are stainless steel (like the campy ones)...
J∆kk∆ls Posted May 23, 2015 Share OK, popped down to LBS this morning and per usual the service was premium. They popped the bike on the stand and replaced the studs with steel ones. It was all over by the time I came back from my coffee. Charged R20 for the price difference and labor was free with a smile. Going to take the bike out for a burn on Monday and put the new bolts under some pressure, will report back! Thanks for all the advice.
eraser Posted May 23, 2015 Share Sounds like great customer service. Consider mentioning the shop's name and give them some positive publicity.
