G-Spot jumping question...

Nice dude. Have you done the bigger line yet? (the left line)

Thanks mate. No, I haven't done the big/left line jumps yet. Saw the airtime the regulars were getting off the first big jump on that line and nearly sh@t myself [emoji15] that's gonna be the goal tomorrow/this weekend... There's also some new techniques to attempt (slow and high jump to steep landing and hip jump)

That looks like such fun. Awesome trail with plenty of B-lines if you're not confident.

The jumps you skipped out don't look much worse than those you hit.

I think your pace is good, just relax a bit and enjoy the ride!!

Thanks, the relaxing and loosening up is coming along with time... The jumps I haven't hit yet are definitely smaller than the ones I have, but are doubles with a hole in between so just taking it slow...

But all in all its such an awesome trail, been having a lot of fun there over the last few weeks...

yeah man, with time you will be able to jump higher and slower just keep on at it.

I still ALWAYS sh!t myself on that first big jump with the hipped landing. You need to be going mach 1 and the hip is the opposite direction to the way I spin. You dont want to case it either. You won't die but it will be a hard landing. Always land a bit kark. Don't worry about the height.

I actually rode there on Sat. Have you ridden the new trails near Gspot? Amazing fun.

I would imagine it being a fine line between getting that all just right and then being too slow, going too high and then not making the distance needed to complete the jump(coming up short from where you should land).

If you understand my explanation............

Yeah. There are actually 3 or so good spots now.

1. From the top of the hill down. Smooth single track with some small jumps and drop offs that goes all the way to the small dam loop.

2. The rock garden with the fun drop with jump afterwards to crazy big wall ride berm

3. The newish section with the berms and tables.

Pleasantly surprised. Thought it would be 100% XC.

I pushed back up

Shot for the tips... I'm getting there, have buried most of the demons (in the form of the big jumps  ). Only ak couple of the doubles to master before I can jump the whole route...

Not bad at all. That jump just before where the guys were standing is my nemesis. I havnt come off there but had a few very scary moments as I can't get my body in the right position after the turn before hitting the face of the jump. Also as a result of not being relaxed enough in the air I guess. Great spot to build up confidence. Well done to the builder!

I'm in the exact same boat on that one! Always chicken out last minute... +1 well done to the builder.

I baled hard the first time I messed that jump up. Opened up my chin on the handle bars, was winded, wheezing for breath on my back seeing stars for a minute or two. So I've definitely got respect for that buggar. Haven't done much up from g for a while, used to go into Eden forest, there's some nice pine ST there but it is quite confusing, I just follow trail until I pop out somewhere else.

Then up and left (north from the start) from g is that koetzenberg? I have followed a high level ST that goes through pebbly/rocky terrain through gum trees, I think. Do you just keep on going?

Yep. Just keep on going and it's on the left when you can't go anymore

Hey Wally,

I ride a 650 trance with 157/160mm rear/front travel. Trails are nice there, and Northern suburbs too. With tokai out of action it's has been good finding new stuff to do...

Enjoy mate.

You should realise that this is what XC is supposed to be like. This track is on a world class level.

Don't confuse marathon riding with XC.

Hopefully this track will lift the bar with local riders skills.

I think you should make the trek out to Helderberg Trails sometime, also nice and techy but with fast stuff mixed in as well.
