You should realise that this is what XC is supposed to be like. This track is on a world class level.

Don't confuse marathon riding with XC.

Hopefully this track will lift the bar with local riders skills.

This is basically where I learned all the basics (and still learning). It's a great place to get your confidence and mid air bike control going without taking too many risks AND still having fun. But with my XCO-type setup hardtail I keep away from the jumps on the right side...

Just did my first run at G spot yesterday. Still got to get my mind around those jumps but really enjoyed it.

Who built this track and more importantly, who maintains them? Do guys get together and do it on the weekends? If so how do you get invited to this party?

Mark Gordon (the G in G spot)

He maintains it all the time. Hit him up on Facebook (g spot trail)

Thanks, I'll check it out and see if he needs some assistance

What a pleasure riding this trail. Nearly went ass-over-face this morning on some of the last jumps, and did do just that this afternoon (I tend to get too excited when I go down). All jokes aside, bigups to Mark for designing and maintaining this trail - It's awesome!

Want to go and ride this trail this weekend.

Do you guys ride with flats?

I did the small wooden jump at the bottom of Bloemendal last weekend going around 20km/h and almost p00ped my pant because my feet came off the pedals and I had to somehow find them again mid-air.

Now I'm too afraid to hit anything at that speed again (because a couple of weeks before I cracked open my helmet doing a faceplant coming down Majik forest's stairs at the bottom.

I've got a pair of Mallet 3 pedals lying around that I could maybe put on, just not too sure it's wise given the need to sometime bail quickly.

Are you new to flats? If so, don't worry you will get used to them and after a couple rides your feet will stop coming off.

I used to ride SPD's then changed to flats to try improve my technique and stop relying on the clips to pull the bike up. Took a  number of rides to get used to but have not changed back. A good pair of flats is a must, not those bear trap like things!

Flats FOREVER! :D

Don't worry about it you can land without feet so long as yuor arse is on the saddle...ask me :P

Drop your heels while it the air...it helps a lot to keep tension between your feet n hands and keeps feet better glued to the pedals.

I've got very little skill.. That's my biggest issue :)

I fell during "Die Burger" this year and dislocated my knee. Decided that's the end of my clip-ins.

Also decided XC racing doesn't suit my 109kg and I much rather like trails and bought a long travel Trance after taking Sakkie's ride for a test through Majik.

I'm the kind who tries something and then cracks open my helmet  because I'm nowhere near good enough :)

I can't even do a manual or wheelie or whatever it's called properly..

Seriously need a skills clinic.

This is a couple of weeks ago on Jonkers' red trail, fell my ass off twice in the rain.
