Now to find a place to ride.

When you get to Cape Town drop me a line

and I will take you on some technical rides.

"Ooops!" I forgot they've gone up in flames.

We'll find some.

Tenjou Tenji  -  get yourself a bike - a 2nd hand bike - any bike - just make SURE it is the right size and go and ride - preferably with your mates.

Learn and learn some more.

Enjoy it!     Sweat it out!

then

after a while get yourself the bike you want/need.

(Too much debate - no ride)

Grammar lesson - technical and XC cannot ever be used in the same sentence especially with just a / between them - I am watching you.

Agree. I'm on my first real bike (second bike) and I still don't really know what I need. And I've read a lot. Reading counts very little against experience. Your first bike probably won't be the perfect bike for you since you don't yet have a way of knowing what you like. Just buy something and ride it till the bearings turn to dust (true story).

Just an update. I found a 2014 Slade 1 for R8000 2nd hand, practically new condition. Will post pics when it arrives from CapeTown.

Amazing deal!!
