Problem with polarized lenses?

I have experienced this weird issue with some polarized sunglasses, not sure if its normal or not.

When I look into harsh direct sun I get a tiny little white circle in each lens, like a little disc of light, its position is dictated by the angle of the light entering the lens, if I move my head up and down the white disc moves up and down with the movement. At first I thought there was a drop of water of smudge on the lens but they weren't very dirty and I cleaned them spotlessly and it didn't help, also noticed the identical issue in both lenses.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

You didn't find it irritating or is it something you get used to and ignore pretty soon?

Cut back on the Cytomax, before you grow a third nipple. Hallucinations are the first sign....

Speaking from experience I assume!?

So anyone else experience these white disks/circles with polarized lenses and looking into direct sunlight?

It was a bit irritating at first (especially after spending so much money) but you get over it and its probably not the best idea to be looking anywhere near directly into the sun anyway.

No such issue with my polarised Raybans. Only problem is that salt water cause the coating to bubble - that's a pain, because I cannot use them for paddling in the sea, and that is exactly where you want polarised lenses to cut out the glare.

I can imagine considering how pricey polarized oakleys are, I wonder what it's caused by though?

True that I have had polarized raybans before and I definitely don't recall them having this issue.

The phenomena is called lens flair, but I've never seen it with sunglasses...

Personally, I switched from polarized to photochromic sunglasses. Polarized ones seem to flatten out the surface of the trail too much, I loose depth perception...

My day to day sunglasses are polarized though.

Raybans have the polarized "coating" built in while the lens is manufactured, Oakley is kind of like adding a smash and grab coating as an after thought.

Don't know how better to word it, speak to an optician they will give you the correct terminology. Oakley sell because of their name and styles their "lenses" are no better than a R300.00 pair bought from the side of the road.

I did a quick test, the only thing I see when looking more directly into the sun is the reflection off my eyeball back onto the inside of the sunglass...

Lens flare (sorry not flair) happens more when the sun is at an angle, even out of view.

I have never had an issue with a single pair of Oakleys in 20 years. Lenses have never peeled or broken and frames have always been perfect besides one metal paid I sat on. With regard to lens quality, Oakley lenses are superb in my mind, the only glasses, (and I have tried many) that stop me getting ridiculous head aches by the afternoon on a sunny day. And can't say I have noticed the ring of light you speak of. Are these glasses reasonably new, ? Perhaps the new owners luxotica are doing something differently in an effort to save cash. Like they did with their service, they stopped providing it.

Actually Oakley have the Polarized coating integrated into the lens as well, most other brands will add it on as an afterthought.

My last pair the polarising was definitely an afterthought. Peeled off after about a year.

Got a new pair and all seems good so far, but time will tell...

OP - definitely lens flare, not sure why though. I've only ever seen it in lens arrays, never on a single lens.

Nope I stay away from that stuff. Yes my Oakley Polarised lenses have been flawless.

Yes lens flare, I didn't think about that, it definitely is a form of that because the issue only happens when I am looking directly towards the sun, not looking at it per say but it'll be at some extremity of my vision and the path of the light entering the lens will be direct from the sun.
