Hi

Yesterday cleaning my bike I noticed that it seems that the chain has been "eating" into my rear derailleur cage. XT derailler and im on my second chain in 2 years. This cant be normal. Any advice/idea what could cause this???

Looks like incorrect chain routing. On both my bikes with older 9spd XT and current 10spd XT the chain routes behind that metal tab and only contacts the pulleys, as it should. Also if you fitted pulley wheels that are too big this can happen even when correctly routed. The chain should not touch that metal tab at all. That setup must be noisy and energy sapping!

The Shimano pulley wheels are assymetric, especially the inner one, to assist shifting so if incorrectly assembled there could be issues with sub optimal shifting too.
