Hi all

My girlfriend and I are new to cycling and MTB. We're looking to buy a Silverback Sola 3 (~R11000) for myself and a Silverback Splash 1(~R7000) for her. Quite sure about cycling and not wanting to buy second hand. Any better suggestions for those price ranges?

Like I mentioned in the office, Titan and Merida will have some decent options in those price ranges too.

I know a lot of happy Silverback owners though so am sure that you'd be happy with those.

I ride a 2014 silverback splash1, more than enough for me potting around.

It's stood up to multiple falls, tree hugging (riding into trees) - and it rolls very fast :)

I got a ladies saddle on it, everything else is stock standard.

Looking at replacing tyres now.. 18mths down the line...

I am a long term Silverback fan and would say that those would be good choices. However as Lurch has mentioned Titan and Merida also make good bikes. Try and test ride a few and see which one you prefer and get that bike.
