Dropper post wiggle /play

Hi

I am interested in a dropper post. I think it will help on the single tracks.

My only concern is play / wiggle on the shaft. Is it only the cheap ones that has this play or does all of them have it? My Specialized takes a 27.2. As far as I know you don't get hydraulic droppers in 27.2?

I am thinking of buying the mechanical one on the hub.

Any help will be appreciated.

hey dude.

They all do! ... Its not a design fault or an issue with the post at all.

Its to reduce stiction.

Even the RockShox reverb has 1mm of lateral play built in.

I would still look at getting a good hydraulic one (but I believe the Da Bomb mechanical ones are pretty good for the price).

As for the diameters - I am not sure - you will just need to hunt around i would suspect

The Reverb ( I haven't opened many others) has two bushings with teflon coating that wear fast giving noticeable increase in play .  Problem is only the lower one is included in the service kit - the other is part of the cap.  Kit plus cap = R1000 before labour!

Spend wisely. Its a great investment and one that will serve you for years to come.

Get the LEV. Mine has been flawless for 2 years no. Zero maintenance and only a tiny bit of play.
