Pedal question

Hi all. My wife has mountain bike shoes and cleats. Did one argus with them and asked me to remove it for her. I recently few years later started cycling with clipless pedals and I am loving it.

She is keen on trying again. she used those double sided clipless pedals, that is flats on the one side and clipless on the other.

Is this crapy pedals the reason she might not like it? She complained that the release action didnt work.

Will a more expensive pedal be the solution? Or is mountain shoes just more difficult to get loose? I only have road shoes so I cant realy make that comparison. We only ride road, and both are on road bikes.

Shimano's SPD mtb pedals are great options for anyone looking to move to clipless pedals. The PD _m520 is excellent value, serviceable and easy to set up. Using MTB pedlas and shoes means its more familiar to swop from MTB to Road bike.
