Electronic booklet, route maps and profile have been updated on the Trailseeker website.

As per the booklet route description the marathon route is based on last years' route except in reverse.

I’m entering my first 40km : This first 20 km seems quite flat. (previously I did couple of 20’s sub 1HR).

Any suggestions about strategy from guys who’s done it before?

My Strategy :

  • fast out of blocks for 1st 20km – (@TEMPO ~ 80%)
  • @ 20km over  the hill (@ENDURANCE pace)
  • Rest at 2nd waterpoint
  • Recover the legs at long downhill up to 30km.
  • Last 10 km @TEMPO ~ 80% (or whatever I have left)

Is this advisable I’m aiming for sub 2H30 based on my current fitness.

It's only 40km.

Come out of the blocks firing, go till you blow.

Take an energy gel, sluk it half way, and as you fly into waterpoint 2, grab a cup of coke (without splashing it all over the lady who hands it to you) and down it as you hardly slow down, then light up the afterburners and hammer it home.

Lie down on the grass at the finish and bask in the satisfaction that you absolutely could not have pushed yourself harder without dying...
