Hi.

Some advice please. I am looking to upgrade my current hardtail to a dual sus. I have a full carbon hardtail and have an option on a full carbon dual sus. The dual sus is 1kg heavier than the hardtail. Is it worth it?

I was doing five-six hour rides on a ht. No problem. Above comment.....no.

Ok thnx for advice so far. One more question. Is 30k for n full carbon dual sus bike with full xt groupset a good price to pay? It is a 2014 model and has done less than 500km and is in very good condition.

Don't even think about it regardless of age, back ache etc. Just go dual and the best dual you can afford - I don't know almost anyone that has regretted it except brandonf above

Full sus climbs better, descends better, better control and grip in corners. Unless you are riding on tar. You ever seen a hard tail Landrover?

The age old question, with the age old answer: Depends on your riding.

I am on a HT and enjoying it, not a racing snake at all.  I do agree that you will have more fun on the FS, without any shadow of a doubt, but.....

To me it came down to affordability.  No matter how I looked at it, you cannot get away from the cost.  The HT is cheaper for me to maintain at this stage.  I've done W2W on it, which in my opinion is not a feat on a HT.  I've also done the Tankwa, which I was scared of on the HT, but it went down without any issues, back pain, or anything like that (I do still agree that it would be more fun on FS)

I am going to chop off though doing the Atta on HT.

Unfortunately it is your choice at the end of the day and you will only know if it was the right or wrong choice when you really start riding it and servicing it.

As for the price, it sounds good, but again, it depends on what FS it is.  Bit of a difference between a Giant Anthem and  Santa Cruze, if you know what I mean.

Look at where you ride 90% of the times, the type of events you do and then make the call.
