Convertable car bike rack

Hi

Not sure if there is some one out there that has the same issue but I drive a convertable and the car is not towbar approved (as per dealership I phoned, they are willing to fit it but no guarantee and blah blah blah as the car is not towbar approved) I bought a "hatchback rack" as per the pic (Red car) but it has caused some damage to the boot itself causing it to lift slightly as well as scratches on the car.

The question now is does any one know of some one that would be able to or that already does have a design for a rack as per the (black car picture) where the bike would be directly on the actual boot and not hanging behind the car, causing the boot to bend or "lift up" closer to the window.

A roof rack on the car is a Big no no aswell even thow it is hard top.

Regards

Top down.

Bike in passenger seat (the fancier leather seat the better for your bike's emotional well-being).

Seatbelt on it for good measure.

Win.

What model car?

I use a Thule Raceway. My boot was also scratched. I had it polished, added soft rubber padding to the 2 legs that go on top of the bootlid, and had no issues 2 years later. But you also have to make sure the area is completely free of dust. You should be ok then.

Find out why it is not towbar approved? Maybe something to do with lugging a ton trailer behind you etc etc..... or possibly due to wiring harness or something.

I would say, fit a towbar (of course depening on my point above) WITHOUT a wiring harness only to fit a bike rack for your bike. This can be cheap to install and lets face it the weight is marginal

may spoil the aesethitics of yr car though...
