Baracuda Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 "Like nothing I've witnessed at any sporting event anywhere in the world." Indeed! When I mention to mates that I went on a cycling holiday in France, they look at me like I am an old borring bugger until I show them footage of Alp du Huez, the Galibier or Tourmalet. The year there was the time trial up Alp du Huez there were an estimated 500,000 spectators on that mountain, all there to fire it up. Some of the poms will whinge, others just join in. The year I was there, there were a group British guys with wheel-barrows two corners down from Dutch corner. Every morning they pushed their wheel barrows 8km down hill to town, filled them up with beer, and pushed them back up, having a beer or two on each corner. Big jol. All this to watch a bunch of skinny guys whip past in 30 seconds .
