This thread has only motivated me to look overseas when thinking about parts. Unless CWC has a sale. Can't beat those.

Yip, good ol lbs...you know where you can touch and feel the stuffs...also when you walk in the owner greets you by name. Those types will get my support...not a lot of them around. Then of course CRC, their variety, sales and backup is world class, with dhl express they might as well be local....they will get my support. Then CWC run insane specials sometimes...call it loss leaders, I end up buying other stuff while I am it mostly...they will get my support when they run their deals.

You can't break even with CRC(after landing and duties) and expect support...my 2c

To everyone. I say this with respect to all bike shops. There is no bike shop in the world that has 100% good rating. I like Evo and trust them. I now work for a bike shop. It is hard. Make no mistake. There will always be someone who has a problem. We all try very hard. But if you buy your products overseas expect to pay a premium for figment. Unless you are 100% self supportive it will always be better to try local first. This is my feeling alone. I know how hard it is out there.

Define local...

Physical local shop, yes.

Online local shop, no

Experienced it first hand this week

Hi Popawheely

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I was not aware of it and will ask Janos tomorrow on exactly what happened and why your mail was not answered. I did not see such a mail on our mailing info so will ask him about it.  Sop a bit pointless of me to answer any questions.

Also feel free to send me a PM at anytime when you have mailed and received no response. I try to answer all PM's ASAP if I can

Unfortunately we have to adhere to Coolheat's instructions in this case. I will see if I can get confirmation from them ASAP that we can replace your shifter in the meantime - you do not need to then wait for a part as well....

 Hey Naas

Thank you very much for this response and I look forward to having my bike back in no time with your newly inspired efforts.

I do feel some empathy towards you and I am not proud to  be a person that actually stoops down to this level as to state my case on a social media site.

I have my own business too. I know I've made mistakes and disappointed some clients too on my journey. We are human after all.

I also do think its paramount that we recognize our mistakes and take responsibility to correct them. Your actions express much humility and  good character about yourself.

I would like to thank you for this.

It would seem your 'friend' doesn't share the same sentiment but the 'make no mistakers' walk amongst us ......

My mate has taken a better stance on this than me , I am respectful and proud of his response, I however am taking a different line, I started this thread and had to face the arrogance of this local shop and there justification of there poor service, they are not alone.

It was only when popawheely interjected and stated his claim that the arrogance was replaced with embarrassment.

I, like so many of you that spend there hard earning money on our hobby and have to face this level of bad service.Naas, was very quick to try and fly the EVO flag, and we have brought him straight back down to earth.

Why must the paying customer have to wait for the part to be sent to JNB, we pay good money for these items, we don't want to be weeks without these parts due to the arrogance of the local retailer or the greedy agent,we now have an alternative, CRC and CWC don't use agents, they don't use them for this reason,

Unlike Popawheely have been doing this for longer and have had to do the walk of shame to my LBS with a defective part, or in my last case a broken wheelset, I'm done with local.

In this clip replace "more" with "Please Sir can I get some after sale Service"
