SRAM Centerline rotors

I have read somewhere that the SRAM Centerline rotors are backwards compatible with other SRAM/Avid brakes. Because I actually like the feel and look of my current Avid Elixir 7s (I don't want to buy a whole new disc brake set ) I was thinking of just buying theSRAM Centerline rotors to replace my current Avid rotors. Has anyone done this and does it take away the turkey noise?

compatibility is assured in both rotor thickness and size, so yes. carry on.

As for turkey warble, never had that as a problem on any of my Avid/SRAM brakes. But according to SRAM, the rotor redesign was to get rid of that warbling as well.

as an aside: the world cup DH riders sponsored by sram all rock Avid brakes, or Guide levers with Avid calipers, AND almost none of them use the new centerline rotors. Wonder what's the story there. Irrespective, i didnt see a change in braking performance changing from the previous HS1 rotors to the new centerlines. Centerlines definitely better looking IMO.

I'm not looking for improved braking performance which is not bad at all, just looking to get rid of the noise.

I read somewhere that the noise is taken care of in dry conditions, but in the wet you will hear them skweal from miles away....I have not tested them yet, but putting them on my bike in this week...NOT hoping for wet conditions in Cape Town this weekend though!

Yes I am sure that should work.

Anyone else tried Centerline rotors with Avid Elixirs?

Website say thay are 100% compatible, so there should not be any hassles.

Bit off topic.

I'm using Baradine Pads (sintered and organic) combined with Quasar Rotors on my Juicy Three, XO and Elixer R brakesets.

No squeel, warble or other noices, except for a short period after going through muddy water.

Brake modulation is good, stopping power is good, and pads longevity is quite good.

yep, they do squeal like a stuck pig initially. But once warmed over, its all silent again.
