Sigh.. now the French will expect him to be the next.. whatever sommer next year.

Lucky for him he doesn't ride for a French team and is actually managed really well.

I like what Lafevere said about him.. bringing dan Martin in to take pressure off Alaphilipe.. smart man that Lafevere.

Wow, what a race..the elites are going to tear each other up over the next 2 days!

GO TOMMEKE

And Nibbles, but I don't want to say it out loud...

I think k we just saw a test run of team Italy. .. nibbles will fancy his chances.. and as much as what Valverde is saying the course doesn't suit him.. he is lying.

This is anyone's race.. it's very open here.. whoever goes over lilly climb with a gap will hold that gap over 23 Street climb and governor climb all the way to the finish.

Team tactics will he very interesting esp with no race radios

The same can be said of the ladies race. Several really good contenders for the win and that is accounting for the fact that Vos ain't racing. Van der Breggen will want to prove her worth by winning but so Ferrand-Prevot, Armistead, Johansson and even Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio will fancy their chances. The standard across both main races is going to be really really high. The tactically smart stands the best chance of winning.

Italy and France both showed the importance of being at the head of the race yesterday. Going into the cobbles on the last lap is going to be like a sprint finish and you can only imagine the carnage behind if someone stumbles like the Belgian lad yesterday.

Re Nibbles, he is in the team as their wildcard and he will always take a chance, same as the Frenchie did yesterday, to take the win. Same can however be said for all of the favourites that have been mentioned for the last few weeks now, but Nibbles might be able to slip under the radar if everyone is looking at each other (you can only keep tabs on so many riders).

Exhilarating racing to look forward to indeed. Luck, positioning and the weather are all going to play major roles in determining who is going to don the rainbow jersey this weekend. And the same holds true for the ladies.

GO PFP!!

We agree on that too. Those dimples are irresistable, the sweetest smile. But what always strikes me about her is how through all that talent and power and bike handling skills, she somehow always does it with grace and a ladylike sophistication. She wins world championships in the mud wearing pearl earings and long false eyelashes. So very French. I'm a big fan.

Those dimples

Agreed with the gracefully way of winning, she might as well have swept into a ballroom with the amount of grace she went over the line with at the XCO Worlds. Also a big fan.
