Bike recall because of QR

@flowta, my point (and quite a few people on this thread), is that recalling 1.3m bikes because the lever might get stuck because the rider did not fasten it correctly is a bit much. Like @droo said, Americans like to sue. Even if they were the idiots for not fastening it correctly.

I wouldn't really call, "take your bike to your LBS and get a new free skewer, because the one we specced isn't that great", a recall.

But... a skewer should be fitted by a trained professional, otherwise it might come undone and poke out your spleen. True story, it happened once to a friend's wife's second cousin's uncle.

1 - if your front skewer comes loose on a bike with discs, you're in *** anyway.

 

2 - by show of hands, how many hubbers have had a skewer come loose while riding?

had my back wheel come off 3 or 4 times due to a faulty skewer
