Old baldy really was very good.

Remember the "Leary" trick?  It was like a cross-up but he went in front of the bars.

I remember one issue of BMX Action (I think) going on about that trick...sometimes called the "Leary lookback". Seem to remember someone unearthing a photo of another rider doing it before Leary. Now I'm stretching things...could have been a Tim Judge? Think he may have been a Hutch rider?

The only Hutch riders I remember were Woody Itson and "Captain Elbows" - Toby Henderson.

Jeez - I can remember that time like it was yesterday: Kadimah Country Club after school, racing on the weekend.

My BMX was my life.

Good times!

My old man's business used to import Diamond Back up until the mid Eighties.

I was lucky enough to have a DB Silver streak (1983 I think), but I was crazy jealous of my older brother that had a Blue DB Turbo with yellow everything including Yellow Skyway wheels. It was a limited edition then, and was the only one in the country. I have never seen one the same as his, not even online.

There was always an argument about whether the lookback was a "Leary" or a "Judge", until Tim Judge got fed up and put his name on a new trick:

There were two German brothers that lived near me - they both had white Redline BMXs with Red Skyway wheels.

I was so frikking jealous!

That brings back memories! I got a Mongoose Expert in '83 - loved that bike. Only rebuilt and sold it around '92. Spent many, many hours of my life on that bike.

What were those thermoplastic wheels that were around back then? You popped them into the freezer to remove any buckles. Very trick!

Those were the Skyway Mags - never believed it myself.

Yes Tim Judge was a Hutch rider. He has a frame set / Bike named after him too.
