Joh, that is a kief lekker early start for the 65k MTB...

This is something that came up on the other Durbie Dash thread as well

There was a bit of a discussion around the starting time among the organisers (and there are good arguments both ways). Part of it is the logistical balancing act of hosting a road & long mtb event together. The road event has to start early (because of traffic issues) & long distance mtb event take longer to complete for many.

Last year there were complaints from mtb'ers that missed the prize giving & lucky draw because they were still out riding, so now everybody will be able to attend it.

Currently yr is predicting a 34 degree day in D'ville so there are definitely benefits to starting early!

I like early starts, had to get up at 4am to make WCE this past Sunday, will do the same for Durbie Dash.

Was moerse cold at the WCE that early in the morning.

Edit : Seems this year it be harder than the 60K last year. I got 1200m on last year's ride and they claim we will do 1700m on the 65K this year.

Maybe they can start events even earlier how about starting at 1AM? Then you can be back home just in time for the kids waking up or mow the lawn. Or even better why not start the previous day late afternoon that will suit me much better.

Previous day late afternoon is when blood transfers and EPO analyses takes place......(you're a back marker, hey?) ????

Yeah Im a back marker getting out of bed in the morning and on the trail so the Epo stuff is not applicable but I would still like to try a blood transfer just give me time to top up with beer before drawing.
