Any Fox guru's out there?

So I have an unusual question for the real guru's....

I have a new Spark 900 with the CTD on the both Fox fork and shock (kashema coated type) controlled via the Scott CTD remote.

Now I have read good things about he CTD system, but coming from RockShox, the remote is just plain ugly and uses up a ton of cockpit.

As I ride XC and never stand going uphill, I was wondering about my options to just remove the remote.

If I did his, what would I need to change in the fork and shock (any idea of price) to go to the manual option.

I then had another thought, just take the remote off and run the fork in Descend mode, don't see an issue here.

For the shock, any ideas on how to fix it in Trail mode without a remote. Can I do it via pressure setup or fix it with a short piece of cable to hold it in Trail mode.

I know all of the above sounds crazy, but I'm only asking out of interest.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Marc

The fundamental problem with that Scott dual remote is that you cant select different ctd modes for front and rear.

It is possible to remove the remote adjusters and fit the manual controls directly on the fork and shock. I dont know what it costs. People usually convert the other way and there is a remote kit you can buy but have not seen a kit for going from remote back to individual controls.

On the Factory (kashima) models, one advantage of going back to standard is that you would regain the Trail Adjust feature (black dials) which allow you to fine tune the Trail mode. This is removed when the remote kit is fitted; they pre-select one of the trail adjust settings and it just stays fixed in that position when Trail mode is selected on the remote. So a person who knows how would be able to remove the remote actuators, set your Trail adjust to soft in front and firm at rear ( which seems to be what you want) and then refit the remotes.

If your LBS cant help then contact Droo here on the forum. You can also go to the Fox Service website, register and then enter the serial number (fork) or 4 digit codes (fork and shock). It will tell you what upgrades/kits are available.

If it is just the TwinLock lever from Scott that you dont find ascetically pleasing ;)  .... then replace it with a Fox Remote lever.

Their latest version looks much sleeker that anything else or even their first attempt (that was just fugly)

You can then add the splitter box and connect the shock also:

If you want to remove the lockout lever from the fork, that is pretty straight forward.

Take it off and replace with the blue CTD knob, available at any Fox stockist ... or contact me!

Thanks for the detailed reply... much appreciated. I will try my LBS on Monday

My option ...I have a Scott genius and have set the sus select so i still have the 3 functions on the rear..Lock-travel -full. and just adjusted the cable on the front shock so i have the two settings travel and full on the front shock.Basically loosen cable locking screw on front shock...set shifter to travel and tighten thereby eliminating the Lock out option.

Must say i really enjoy the convenience of  sus adjust at the flick of a switch.

The fork can be converted, but not the shock.

Since the shock is the bit you're most likely to want to lock out on the fly, I'd suggest leaving that on the remote and converting the fork to manual. Leaving the shock in trail mode doesn't make sense with the Nude shock, since it alters the volume of the air spring in the centre mode as well as the damper rate.
