I'm hopefully going to the Drakensberg Sun at the end of the month, is the above info still the same?

or are there other places now too?

mountain splendour has trails and they will do longer guided outrides.

But take a gps and cable, there is a shop in the complex opposite Champagne sports that will give you gps routes for rides in the area. There are marked routes as well, look for the dayglow flashes.

Kirk from Rockslide MTB tours and my Dad have just started the Cathkin MTB club up there. You can get info about the trails on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Cathkinmtb/. Or download the app 'MySos' and go to the hotel or visit 'The Great Outoors' shop at Cedarwood super market (opposite Champagne golf resort) and ask to get the routes added to the app. There are a couple out rides that are marked and on the app.

You can also join the group rides from Mountain Splendour, or get hold of Kirk from Rockslide MTB tours and he does heli biking, taxi shuttles and guided rides in the area.

Thanks Frosty...

this seems like my best bet, close by and trail distances not long but long enough to get a decent ride and experience in   and still get back in time to be exhausted by my little one and  for the missus to chill ^_^  (brownie points)
