Hi:

Why would you slap a wider bar and shorter stem on the bike? What does that do?

better direct input, more stability through the rough stuff, better ability to position your weight, no more feeling of going OTB in steep conditions (weight further behind the axle) more steering control...

The list goes on, but essentially it's just BETTER in every way except maybe climbing, which you can work around and adapt your technique to make it a non-issue. So it's better in every way, and the same in climbing.

Some say

It improves handling and control

Some say

It's harder to get between obstacles on tight singletrack

Some say It makes climbing awkward so compromise on slightly longer stem with wider bars

...... or wait for the Pyga StageMax - in the country early December! It may be a bit more expensive, but hey, beg, borrow or steal!

Jules come in, Jules come in! Please donate your new Pyga to me. Thank you!  ;)

What ever happened to the Trance 29er, did Giant stop making it? Was it not popular? I would have thought that would be the ultimate do it all'er

yeah, they stopped making it. Never really caught on, and the geo was a bit whack, apparently. Long ass chainstays, just meh.

Some loved it, and still do...

The Anthem SX 27.5 has the Fox 32 Float Performance Elite (120mm) on. How does that compare to the RS Revelation RC3 on the Camber?

About the same. Fox got rid of the CTD shaite and they now all have the same FIT damper, which was miles ahead of the old CTD. They've also been beefed up a bit, or so the reviews say..

Is that not what one will get when putting a 120 on a 29er Anthem ... a bit whack

Any issues with the Maestro Suspension on the Giants that you guys know of?

Nope, widely regarded as one of the best designs. Good design to limit bobbing on the back.

Do have a lot of bearings to replace when it needs servicing though ...

I have a Anthem X1 29er btw
