Anyone here applied for someone for a visa from SA to visit NZ or been part of someone's application process?

Did you guys notice how expensive it is!?! shooooot! Most expensive visa I will ever have to pay for (it's for my mom)... NZ$165 + R528 + R120

And worst is she cant get the "parent" one yet, as I am not a resident yet, so next year I will have to pay it all again when she and my dad comes together.

I'm about to do the process for my 13 year old niece who is coming here in December for school holidays...

Yep, I did my mom's application for when she visited earlier this year. What is the "parent" one? I just did a visitor visa for my mom.

Ah... the parent one if where it is granted for like 3 years and they can stay for 6 months at a time. 18months in total over those 3 years or something...

How long did it take and did you do it online?

I thought the "proof of onwards travel" meant pre-purchased airplane ticket, so I purchased one last night and now they said I should not have done it etc etc...

Also if you did it online, did she post her passport to Pretoria (and how soon after she/you send in the application)?

I filled everything in online for my mom, and she just forwarded me any email responses. I bought the plane tickets first. Then she posted her passport off to Pretoria (via courier) and they sent it back to her. The actual visa is just a letter on the system that you need to print out, there isn't anything added to the passport.

Speaking of visas, I am having to file a "variation of conditions" for my Work to Residence visa, based on the fact that I am no longer based in Christchurch, and I am not employed in the role that I originally obtained that visa on.

Anyone else filed one of these before? Do they take long to process? And can one travel freely while the application is in? (I'm off to Sydney this weekend).

Hayley, my mother and father in law is here currently (came over with wife and kids).

We could also not get the parent one yet obviously, but the visa's they got are valid for 3 years, with 3 months visit allowed at a time.

My mom's one unfortunately wasn't like that - "Visa valid for further travel for 2 month(s) from first arrival. This visa expires 2 month(s) after first arrival. "
