Oval rings for mtb

I'm running a 34T Absolute Black paired with an 11-36 Cassette.

I've only done three rides with it so far, but I've definitely felt a difference on technical climbs. Riding out of the saddle seems easier as well and my legs seem to recover a bit quicker than when i was running a round ring.

Early days though, so will report back again when I've racked up a couple more km's.

Hi Guys, Been running 1*10 now for about a year and a bit. Found the sweet spot to be a 34t with the 11-42. This was perfect for Baviaans and K2C.

Which oval ring should I look at?

Whats the difference between these? The FRM looks way more oval than the Absolute

P.S. A 36t on the front makes things really interesting on the climbs with many a prayer being prayed. On the flats the 36 is lekker though.

I have been wanting to change my small (24) ring on 2x10. I see rotar Q make a 2x system in 28/42 or 27/40. How would this work? Are there any other options where I can just change the smaller ring?

So only go oval on the small ring and leave the bigger round?

If so, why?

To better my climbing ability. If I have to replace both welll...

I know it would probably be ideal to run a 1 x10 or 1x11 system, but thats a beeg investment vs. the ring

Okay, I am with you. It is sound reasoning, know of a guy who kept his 22T granny gear and manually shifted at the start of a climb. The need for 1x10 was beeeg.

Maybe check out Rotor. Think they are the only guys who do oval 2x or 3x setups.

I speak under correction though.

i think only Rotor have the ability to run 2 rings or 1 of each but then arent the BCD,s funny sizes on rotors ( stand to be corrected on this )

Yeah rotar do have 2x systems. Who stocks them locally though? I have sent the agent an email

evobikes  but the 2x is expensive

The sram mtb sizes are spot on

The Rotor crank has 5 chairing bolts to fit the spider but they also make a 4 bolt chainring to fit std cranks. Not sure if they compatible with sram cranks though!

What do I cancel out if I use a 26T instead of my usual 24T?

Ok, not much, one ring on the cassette I suppose, seeing as its 26/39 over the 24/38.

Am I right?

if you asking if you will loose anything using a 26/39 oval versus standard 24/38 you wont loose anything ..in fact your granny should be same but possibly easier to pedal same with big ring and acually you should have more top speed if im correct

Can anyone tell me which interface chain ring I need to buy to fit on the spez SRAM1250 crankset, in other words, is it the 104BCD or something else?
