TSS calculation

Just a question regarding TSS

I see the cycleops site uses normalized power to calculate TSS. Is this the common method? I have always been under the impression that it is calculated using your avg power

Thanks!

TSS = {(t X NP X IF) / (FTP X 3600)} X 100

Thats the formula from Coggan and Allens book and from what i have seen is generally used all over

Thanks! I have a separate spreadsheet I use as a performance management chart. It is basically a training peaks formula sheet and I only have to enter my riding time and power numbers. So for 1.5years now I have been using my avg power rather than my normalized power.

......oh well, better late than never

The formula is in here somewhere... as is the reason why...

Thanks bud! This means my fitness line is actually higher than it showed the last 1.5years. Rather concerning cause that show really shows my lack in natural talent

Actually it shows your training load is higher than you thought, fitness is another thing entirely.... :)

As to your lackof natural talent - blame your parents.... :ph34r: :ph34r: :ph34r:

Why not use something like Golden Cheetah and let it do the donkey work?

I actually download all my rides on golden cheetah, cycleops and strava. I just prefer the performance management chart of the external file to that of golden cheetah. Only use golden cheetah as a backup of my training if something went wrong with cycleops. Don't like golden cheetah much to be honest
