Hi guys.

I know with any tubeless tyre there will be some loss in pressure over time. So my question is, how often is this going to happen?

I had my tubeless conversion re-done on Saturday by my LBS and it was 100s, I went this morning  to check and it was soft. Is 4 days to loose pressure normal? or what is wrong?

I think for the first couple of days you should give the wheels a spin once or twice a day, just to help seal, and top-up if required (can even pump a fair bit harder than normal). After that it should be fine.

I went about 6 weeks without topping up my tubeless tyres - probably 10 rides.

Once sealed and inflated, I rotate my tyres in the swimming pool. Any small bubbles, I just shake the sealant into the appropriate position & sorted.

Or just take it on a ride immediately after. The rougher the trail the better for spreading that sealant around inside.

Big lesson I learned was that its not worth it to try and skimp on sealant. 30ml (Stans) is definitely not enough for my 29er tyres. Gets a sort of a seal but it weeps and leaks air over the next few days. 60ml per tyre sorts it properly for a good few months.

Just took this out of my back wheel .... 100 grams demmit, no wonder i can't break 1 hour for my Thaba lap  :whistling:

I use whatever sealant is available/cheapest at my LBS (mostly Ryder I think) ... I can't remember 'bombing' that wheel ever so interesting that this happened? Been a while but was hesitant to have to remove the tire to get to that, getting that tire on was a moerse struggle as can be seen by the broken off piece of tire lever that I also removed (that sound also made me mad but only at low speed  :cursing:  )

I've broken my fair share of tyre levers and fingernails. I've cried and thrown things and sworn until I discovered the wonders of physics in the form of 2 shoelaces. When the tyre is too tight to get back onto the rim, simply get as much of the tyre onto the rim as possible and then tie a shoelace tightly around the part of the tyre and rim that's on. Do this on both sides so that the tyre stays in place while you work the rest of the tyre on. Move the shoelaces as you go.

This method has changed my life and I can easily get the tightest tyres back onto the rim without swearing, cursing, breaking levers or kicking the dog and cat. Trust me, you'll forever have a pair of shoelaces in your toolbox going forward.

You're welcome

I had to replace my rims (Shimano Deore XT) because of ammoniac-based sealant. Apparently the ammoniac starts to eat away the alu. My rims started leaking (weaping) sealant at the bead/tyre seat. It kept loosing air.

Seen this on a friend's XT rim as well.

Did a search, but could not find anything on it.  When you clean out your tubes and there is a bit of old liquid sealant left, how do you dispose of it?  As I would assume dumping it in the drain is not ideal

Or do you just transfer it in a bottle and reuse?

I usually just use some paper towel to mop it up and throw it away.

I'm unsure of reusing it
