Setup was included. Anything but Ascend feels too squishy. Must just be me.[emoji14]

I'll ask at my next service. Just had my first service done.

When you say 'ascend' do you mean 'climb', as in pretty much completely locked out? If that's the case you may have well just bought a hardtail with a rigid fork.

Well it depends on what the shop thinks is a setup.

Getting the saddle height, stem length, etc correct is some shops idea of a setup.

Setting the suspension up correctly for your riding may be a bit too much for the average LBS.

The sag must be dialled in correct for your weight, then the rebound and compression is a very personal setting depending on the terrain and your riding style. I would definitely fiddle around.

Check your sag at home, it should be anywhere from 20-30%. Then you can ride and see the behaviour and fiddle with the rebound and compression. Just record your base settings and document changes to not get lost.

I am in Pretoria, if you nearby sometime give me a shout and I can help.

Mmmmm it would seem that also for many just setting sag is also OK not even checking that the person at least goes home with the other (rebound/compression etc.) at a starting point (perhaps 'mid' setting or something?

Sorry, Climb yeah. I'm not sticking to the CTD convention - my bad.

There's definitely compression still using the Climb setting - or am I mistaken?

Belting down a descent is very nice with the Descend setting. I just pause to engage this specifically for both front and rear.

I have seen my LBS pumping shocks according to rider feedback. Obviously mine received default treatment. I'll definitely look at having it adjusted.

The climb setting on a CTD fork or shocked is locked out. No rebound or compression.

Yours I would imagine is pumped too hard. Just my guess looking at how you aren't able to go through all of your travel. Even with compression and rebound being setup poorly it should still use most of its travel in descent.
