Ohhhhh.... now it's getting exciting - 19 March. @ Cav, where's the write up!

So Sagan's going to be second but who for the win? Seems much more open this year.

Will post before the race for sure  .

Also have to do Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. (it will be the first "real" GC battle between Contador, Froome, Quintana, Porte, Van Garderen, Uran, J Rod and Thomas.

Weather forecast looks like it's going to be a perfect sunny spring day with hardly any wind.

So should be a large bunch sprint with the big teams dominating the run-in to the finish.

Hey, hey, hey

Leave Sags alone hey

My podium:

Michael Matthews

Nacer Bouhanni

Alexander Kristoff

(Sags is focusing more on Cobbled Monuments - that's my story and I am sticking to it)

If Bouhani wins MSR I'll quit cycling!

Loved the 2013 edition. Not for the testing conditions that had the race stopped, moved and started again but for this image. MTN's arrival in a star studded breakaway (as well as Sagans look).

1. Gerald Ciolek (GER) MTN–Qhubeka 5h 37' 20"

2 Peter Sagan (SVK) Cannondale s.t.
3 Fabian Cancellara (SUI) RadioShack–Leopard s.t.
4 Sylvain Chavanel (FRA) Omega Pharma–Quick-Step s.t.
5 Luca Paolini (ITA) Team Katusha s.t.
6 Ian Stannard (GBR)

Shame Ciolek never really built momentum after an okay 2013 season, not even sure if he's racing after the mess of Cult Energy when it folded.

And of course the run up to MSR can't be complete without watching Sean Kelly, @ 36 touted as well past his prime, hammer the Poggio descent and take his second win in the race.

Yeah, you could say he wheel sucked the last K but he played an amazing hand to force Argentin to stay at the front, flicking off his wheel when he looked back so the italian could see the bunch closing and use that pressure, forcing him to keep the pace to the line. If it had back fired they would have both been swamped and no one would have remembered.

Ciolek racing for Stölting Service Group . Leading the team in Nokere Koers Classic today. Should actually also be a race that suits him if he is in form

I don't know how many times I've watched that spectacular clip in the past
