Asics Kayano reviews

So amazon delivered my Kayano's in record time (got them Friday last week). Definitely cheaper than any of the local shops.

So far, all good feel quite comfortable and no sore metatarsals but tbh have not run far enough in them yet to feel any metatarsal pain. Also running with the new orthotics so they could be contributing to the feeling of comfort.

One thing i noticed is that it feels and sounds like my left foot is hitting the ground "flatter"...not sure of this is just a perception or if its good / bad but straight away i felt it (and the shoes seem to make more noise...like a slap sound).

So far

Haha ...my wife had a serious bike accident in 2003 and broke both bones in her right leg. when she runs the sound her right foot makes is distinctly different to any other sound you ever hear a runner make so much so that everyone always looks around to see who or what is making this weird noise....

but apart from that, my wife an I both run in kayano's now and don't find any slap sound ..

except when she slaps me for laughing at the sound of her right leg

Ja my wife also runs noisily (shoe/feet noise) like she is scrapping the ground which i've remarked about to her on numerous occasions....now when we next run together again i just know she is going say something...

Just bought a pair of Kayano 22.... eye watering R2449 at sweathshop....

At that price I'll have to buy a pair or 2 next time i'm in SA

Hope you enjoy them, so far mine are great. Have not run further than a 15k in them yet but they are performing well so far.

Thinking of getting a lighter motion control shoe (anti pronation) for the shorter runs and races

Open to suggestions :whistling:

Did my first training run in them this morning, a slow 15km run. I have been wearing Asics for the last 2 years or so having worn Saucony prior to Asics. In 2 years I have had GT1000's , GT2000's, Kayano 21 and now Kayano 22. The Kayano 22 comes in fluorescent yellow which are bright , very bright.

I found them very cushiony on the heel, far more so than any other Asics. Comfortable as to be expected. Will wear them in a 21 km event this weekend and in all likelihood will use them for the marathon on April 10th.

Yes, they damn expensive but they good quality and comfortable. I consider it an investment in myself and when viewed from that perspective they damn cheap.

Damn, the new Kayano is R2900-00. Think I am going to have to start running bare foot as I cannot afford this anymore. I go through 2 pairs a year. :(

problem is they are low-milage shoes.

i'm on GT2000 and they last me about 6 months (+-700km)

Still in my Kayano 19's - have got just over 1400km in them

Have the 20 with 800km in the cupboard. Going to move over to them for the rest of the year and then use a new pair 21's that I got on special last year from the beginning of next year.

You must be genetically gifted with good biomechanics... 1400km in any running shoes is amazing .... ASSuming you have no shoe related niggles

Ended up buying Metarun's. The difference in cost was that small that I thought let me go big for once in my life. Ran a few kays in them, very very very solid and stable.

Did try kayano's and come December my other pair will need to be replaced and will be them. Since I have started running with Asics I have had no problems so I guess while expnsive its money well spent

Into my second pair of kayono's and decided to go back to Nimbus... ultimately feels like the Kayano's are just to rigid for me. Started getting plantar facia tendon pain in my one foot and after trying various things i dug up my old nimbus from the depths of my cupboard and after a few runs it (the PF tendon) pain has reduced...so hopefully it will go away completely now.
