trails at Huddle Park Golf & Recreation

Was finally at Huddle today late afternoon/evening for a run with my daughter on her bike. Looks like trails in need of some maintenance. Small pump track grown over with grass. Wooden bridge sections feel very week and some planks already broken.

 

I'm useless with directions - would be nice to have another map up by the singletrack section.

 

Ended up being there longer then planned - the perimeter section added some nice distance.

 

We came across a guy going under the fence by the short concrete river crossing by the lake. I presume still safe at Huddle? Anyone had any issues there?

that fence exits to the river and Sandringham high school. never heard of an incident. not a very large area which helps with safety.

Part of this larger open space must have been sold off and is now being developed  (to the north)  GRRRRR

 

Such a shame - pity we don't have forward thinking Councillors and civil servants who can think long term public benefit

yes investec is developing by huddle- they have started.

 

and the land across the road at sizwe know one knows what will be there.

 

it is a pity- you could develop a braamfontein-spruit-like mtb trail from huddle along the wetlands past sizwe along the jukskei/klein jukskei as far north as you can go towards the sand river- but there is not this vision.

went for a ride now after work in huddle. managed 20kms inside. lots of fun at the loops... practiced to see if i can jump lol. the #1 exit is still there going around the golf course which is great but where it begins there's a sewage leak so watch for that.

 

the #2 exit now runs the other way so from the car park you would ride up it parallel to club str up past the dog kennels spot and ride to the top of huddle and head towards the loops and the start of the awesome long #1 exit.

Went this week, enjoyed it although some of the berm sections were overgrown with grass

Have riden last couple of days at Huddle, sewage leak has been repaired. 6.5km around perimeter, it is great hope more will ride it so path gets worn in. Still a great place to ride, beats any road ride. In 3 days seen Guinea fowl, Blue crane, crowned plover just bonus riding in the city.
