I think Cav' didn't want to seem to be profiting from EBH's bad luck by hammering it to the line and nicking the time bonuses. Kinda reverse Tony Martin situation from the tour where he was crucified. Good move not to pull Cav' back for the chase else DD would have lost out totally. There was a  bit in the broadcast where he obviously got a stern word.  The new top 4 is mighty dangerous for tomorrow and BMC / Katusha will be going hammer an tongs with DD. Better believe they need to bring their A train!

EBH was clearly out of contention and was in no way going to retain the lead. CAV would've been forgiven for working to keep the jersey in the team.
