Friedpiggy Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Weird qurstion. I have a bit of an issue with my brakes. Iys a road bike, and when going downhill, i have to use full back brakes (pulling as hard as i can on brake lever) and also feather my front brakes just to slow down. Is this normal? If not, any suggestions on what i should look at first in order to fix this?
Hairy Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I had an issue with my roadie commuters brakes where I could just not get enough braking power, actually there was no braking power what so ever End of the day, after trying a couple of things (Including buying new calipers) I changed to a new shimano cable and housing ..... bang, awesome braking power restored!

Odinson Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Maybe technique should also be looked at. You have more braking power from the front, not the rear. Use your front brake more.
Martin PJ Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 What brakes do you have? I used to have Tektro on one old bike and they could not stop the bike. Changed to Shimano 105 and it was sorted. The Tektro brakes that they have on ebay and aliexpress now are about R400 a set and are much better.
