Hi Guys,

We are very excited to announce the launch of our new cycle lights for 2016. These are the upgrades on our XP1 and XP3 models.

The Endurance Cycle Light is the most exciting product we have ever launched in South Africa. We had the demo units tested and 8 out of 10 testers preferred the Endurance to the XP3 light, and the XP3 won all the awards in 2015!

The Extreme Lights 2015 XP3 Cycle Light won awards and praise for being the best light available. With the advantage of next-generation CREE LEDs, the Endurance Cycle Light takes that success even further, combining 2 100 Lumens and 254 metres of beam reach (on Boost Mode) with a 40 hours battery life (on Low Mode). Plenty of light is also provided for single track, with nearly 180 degree side spill. Avant-garde aesthetics and a top-quality storage case completes the package.

Nice aesthetic and ergonomic improvements on the XP range, but could you please explain your comment "With the advantage of next-generation CREE LEDs, the Endurance Cycle Light takes that success even further, combining 2 100 Lumens and 254 metres of beam reach (on Boost Mode) with a 40 hours battery life (on Low Mode)."?

The above performance figures seem identical to the XP3 data on your website, with the exception of the beam reach, which isn't reported for the XP3.

Are there any specific performance improvements in the Endurance and Core which aren't available with the XP3/1? Or are there only aesthetic and ergonomic improvements on offer? I'm just trying to separate the wood from the trees with a potential upgrade....

What are the prices of the new lights compared to the old prices?

Hi CharlDup,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The price comparisons are as follows:

The Core Cycle Light retails for R 1, 195 compared to the XP1 Bicycle Light which retails for R 895

The Endurance Cycle Light retails for R 2, 295 compared to the XP3 Performance Cycle Light which retailed for R 1, 950. (The XP3 is sold out)

We are also selling the Core Cycle Light as a combo where we will include a free Two Eyes Tail Light.

You can place your order on our website here:

Hi Fat Boab,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We can see that you've done your homework on the specs and comparisons and we appreciate the opportunity to explain the upgrades in more detail.

There are specific improvements to the new models which I will explain in more detail below:

1. Upgraded CREE LED

The main improvement is the upgrade of the CREE LEDs as you've mentioned. The XP3 had the older CREE XLamp XP-L (Highest Efficacy Single-Die LEDs) as pictured below. The link will also give you all the technical specifications.

The new Endurance Model has the CREE XLamp XP-L High Intensity LEDs (Industry’s first High IntensityLED)

The advantage of the next generation CREE LEDs is that it gives you improved brightness and thus a further beam distance across all the modes. Practically speaking, HIGH mode (the middle setting) is now more than bright enough for dirt roads or moderate single track.  The Endurance has a 10 hours runtime on HIGH!

2. Beam Distance

The new LED’s results in a little bit more focused hotspot and increases the beam distance from 172m to 254m.

At the end of last year we had the new demo units tested in a blind test where they tested the XP3 against the Endurance Cycle light.  Riders were not aware of which model was being tested at the time. After comprehensive feedback, 8 out of the 10 users preferred the Endurance to the XP3, even though the XP3 won all the awards last year.

3.Run Times

We decreased the required battery reserve on BOOST Mode.   On average, the Endurance’s BOOST mode now runs 3 hours and 15 minutes, although we quote a runtime of only 2 hours and 30 minutes in our specifications.

4. Aesthetic Changes

The New look red cables as noted, and battery housing and rubber mounting shims are all aesthetic changes as noted.  Racing Red is our new look and fits in great with our brand.

Lights come with a top quality plastic storage case, for when the light is not in use for safe storage.

User feedback indicated to us  that the extension cable, head mounting strap and O-Ring mounts were unnecessary so we removed them from the package.

I hope this answers your query and please feel free to ask any further questions so that we can help you make up your mind on the best option for you.

Regards,

Pieter

PS The Endurance is the best light!

Hi Extreme Lights

Would like to see the Endurance light on special  especially with the Trans Baviaans in the next couple of months.

It seems since last year only the XP1, now the core light is on special  :(

Best upgrade you can do in 2017 would be to have a thumb switch to change modes ;-)

Hi Scuzzy,

I just spoke to our engineer and he told me that the New XP7 does have a wireless programmable remote. This unit is still in the testing phase and is not ready for release yet, so watch this space.

Do you still have the option of elastic head bands or other helmet mount?

Looks like the ols XP1 has it.

Would like the new Core light, with the option of a helmet mount & extension cable.
