The 1 mile extra isn't the problem. It's what it does to the route profile! :) but only 1,160m of climbing not the 1400m they said on the site

That is largely dependant on the rotation of the earth.  :P

100 miler is my bogey race!! this Was My 4th one & each year there was issues from mechanicals to bonking. Yesterday I withdrew at 90km swung a left towards Riebeek just after the 80km water point or where the 50miler started. Was prepping myself for the massive slog over Botmas Pass /Kloof but a farmer decided to give me a ride back to malmesbury, so great full for that.

Did the 50. Missed my estimated time by 15 minutes, which is not that bad. The last 26+-km broke me completely, They still made a comment at the start of the 50 that if you are over 90kilos you will suffer, well try almost 130kilos without kit and then we talk again.

Saw a few guys that hit the wall worse then me, gave one dude some dates and a banana in the last few kms.

Only issue i have is the 50 miler turned out a 51 miler :whistling:

Water points were great, i didn't have soup but i heard they guys that did take it saying it was great, i had some bread and potatos which was great. Was awesome stopping at a water table and all the poeple working there was super quick to help and refill bottles.

I ran out of water from our water 1 to 2 and again towards the end, Will do it with a camelbak next time.

Also got a bit peed off with some of the 100 miler guys coming past in the last couple of kilos thinking that because i am doing the 50 i wont be able to descend and then getting stuck behind them on the downhills breaking all my speed which must help me up on the next hill again. But i guess this was a dirt roadie event.

I heard one lady got attack but a farmers boerboel, he took a bite out of her thigh and she had to go to the hospital. And that was 3km from the end. That sucks.

And then where we turned into the wind some $#%^& sat in my slip for more than 10km every time i slowed down he would just slow down even more, didn't want to help out at all, but i saw he had a specialized shirt on so i can't blame him. :whistling:

thats because we are no longer at the original venue which used to be Swartland Wine Cellars hence the extra miles, but that is not the sting in the tail it's that flippen climb towards the finish that finishes you off for good.

The route map is very deveptive; those constant climbs the last 15km after the big one is what puts the nail in the coffin for me; limped in at 8:15
