How long would you expect a company to support a product for?

 

For example, you have just bought yourself an new cycling computer / GPS Watch etc. How long would you expect to be able to go the the manufacturer's tech department to:

 

a) get the item repaired under warranty

b) get the item repaired at your cost

c) be offered a "trade in" on a new replacement model.

It varies... 12 (At least) -48 months from purchase. 

 

* If a factory defect then either a) or c)

 

* If you broke it b) or c) 

And that is if the product can be repaired.

A) 12 months from purchase

B) and C) after the 12 month warranty period

If its a Polar device then 5 years, at that point they might have finished releasing all of the updates and functions for it

These days you see so many new devices being released you obviously can't expect infinite backup.

 

Something to consider when throwing  R10k at a top end watch / computer.
