I'm still amazed that people can descend rocky single track so slow that they at the point of doing track stands while looking for the next line. I find it so much easier and safer to pick a line on entry and bomb over obstacles at pace using momentum to carry over stuff.

It's definitely a skill to do it so slowly and not bail otb.

I was sooo happy I was on such a slack bike for that exact reason...

This made the decends not worth the climbs...

I few people nearly got run over. Thanks goodness for them I had decent brakes or could pick a bossie line...

Serious question: is it even possible for a human to cycle all the way up to the reservoir?

Regards the descents, that's where I made up my time. Many times the way down was blocked and I had to go down just as slowly. One wipe because of a sudden stop that saw my handlebars imprinted on my chest. :(

100% AM bikes FTW! Died a half million deaths climbing that big hill in the water treatment place...and by climbing i mean walking... But flying down those hills with 170mm travel... HEAVEN!!!

4 piston 203mm brakes also prevented a lot of people getting Onza tread tattoos!!!

That big hill in the water treatment plant? Just before the water point?

If that is the one you speak of then the short answer is NO... although I did see a bunch of guys make it up there, I can only believe that they are aliens.

As for the sudden dismounts, slow pace on the downhills and amazing low speed technical handling abilities of fellow riders.... I ended up embracing an overly friendly tree, but we hit it off and i really felt a connection with said tree. Sadly I did not get it's number.... I can only hope it is there again next year...and hopefully wont be so clingy

Not this human, nor anyone I saw climbed that sucker from the bottom all the way up! The downhills after that were awesome though, until the next bastard uphills.......
