Mampara' date=' have u ever seen an Eggbeater?

Next question, have you taken your MTB offroad yet?
[/quote']

Yes I have and yes I have. I can ride 50km offroad without unclipping 100 times. And if I do unclip and can clip back in without having to look down to see if my pedal is facing the right way.

Just clipping in is not the problem, but clipping in under difficult circumstances is a problem.  To start off again and get your foot clipped in  on steep or technical inclines is particularly challanging but with four sides you have double the chance of clipping in instantly. In mud you have double the chance of not clogging up, althought eggbeaters are particularly good at mud shedding.

Why do you stop in the first place. You ride a bicycle, you don't push it.

4 weeks and mine are perfect. Thought I would never find a pedal as good as my Time ATAC. Finally have and they weigh half as much. Thumbs%20Up

I'm with Mamapara on this, but hey, if you want to change my mind, give me a set of the bling ones (with shoes, size 43) and I'll let you know what I think, via the Hub. If you see my SPD's under classifieds, then Mampara was wrong, if the LOOKS are for sale, he was right.Big%20smile

But there aren't any mountains in Gauteng! OK running ...

Then I think the Richey SPD are the pest pedals on the market. I've never needed a 3rd or 4th side to clip in. If I put my foot down, I have a flat side and I can clip in and take off. The only selling point for the Eggbeaters is the mud shedding one.

Contact point is very good as long as you get the right spacer in. As far as I know any spd compatible shoe will work. Hence the spacer.

Your contact area makes it a much more comfortable pedal than an egg-beater unless the 10g you save blows your horn. You can go Candy but then they are heavy and have more moving parts. Not much cheaper either.

Well said! Spacing is very important....and they will  fit any SPD type shoe. There is also no weight limit on the Ti axle version.

not quite true Dirtbreath

an Eggbeater C and and Candy C differ in weight by 7g per pedal

an Eggbeater S and the Candy S differ in weight by 14g per pedal

the Candy's  have 1 more moving part than an Eggbeater

What would be really nice (and settle this argument) is to have a demo day where the main pedal suppliers (and other suppliers for that matter) get together and allow us riders to test their products.

The bike shops generally don't have demo / used pedals that you can try out.
