Today I collect my new steed

2015 frame, the exact one that was used by Nick from bike hub on the France trip review.

Built up with the standard build kit 3 with the following changes:

Pike RC was swapped out in favour of the RCT3

Grips swapped for the Chromag squarewave

Pedals - Chromag scarab

Cant wait to swing a leg over and give her a bash.

The steerer has been left crazy long so that I can adjust and see what feels best before cutting it to size.

could you (I) sit on this for 5 days ? ^_^

I reckon you could, bike felt comfy from the first time I hopped on.

Very easy peddling and certainly does not feel like you in a 160mm bike until you start pushing her. Hakahana yesterday was like a new experience entirely, this morning I did a quick 25km spruit ride and could have easily gone a lot further if I had the time.

Adding in the above though, I would say that if you looking for something you can do 5 days on, rather look at a smuggler (29er) or a scout.

Also depends on whether you looking at a one bike quiver or not. I've got a spaz stumpjumper fsr which I'll continue using for races like the usn cup etc.

I test rode the scout over a period of 3 days and found it to be too close to the stumpy in terms of ride and travel etc. The patrol is just in a different league, and inspires crazy confidence.

welcome to the club!

It's a fantastic ride the Patrol, both down and up, the latter is especially surprising up technical climbs despite the slack head angle.

It's the first of the newer long slack bikes I've owned and I'm astounded by how capable it is.
