Brickleberry Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 This came up in conversation. And I'm sure all MtB boys are gonna jump in and immediately say the epic is tougher , but I'm not so sure. It's 21 days vs 8 days , TdF generally experiences vastly different weather conditions which the epic seems to get away with warm sunny days. While I think both of hugely physical, my opinion is TDF has to be the thougher race to finish ? What's your thoughts. I suppose the question made easier would be , could froome finish a epic competativly and could sauzer be competitive in a TdF?

nochain Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 No comparison what so ever...1 Tdf Mountain stage take the best riders in the world going at full speed up to 7hours..Not even 10% of the epic field would survive 1 stage like that.Maybe...maybe...the top 10 teams in the Epic will make the cut off on a day like that.
nochain Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Maybe to add to that.Did the Epic a couple of years ago and was cruising in about top 120 teams..mostly not killing ourselves.I know for a fact that if I would have to take on 240km and 5000m of climbing at high altitude it would be the hardest day of my life on a bike..and that would be just 1 stage!!
