Add bike to Strava

Okay, so been using Strava for a while now. Decided to add my bike and components retrospectively to track wear etc. The problem I have is that I cannot seem to specify the purchase date of my bike, so it is only tracking from when I added the bike, not when I bought it.

Anyone had and resolved this issue?

Why do you want to add the purchase date? I know it's nice to keep all the logs in one place, but the most important bit is the km's.

If you really want to you can add the date in the "name" of the bike.  But I still think it's redundant.

What I have seen though, is guys adding a "new" bike every time they change their drivechain - to keep log of drivechain components.

Yes I am only interested in the kms, but as I only got interested in adding a bike 2 years into using Strava, it needs to know when I started using the bike so that it can automatically tally the kms. This functionality exists for the components. I tried fooling it by specifying the component date to a date before I added the bike, but it still only adds the kms from when the bike was added.

You could go and edit all your activities and link them to the bike...... Might be a bit tiresome though....

Thought of that, but when I go back to rides from before I added the bike they already list that bike. I thought I was being a dumbass and missing something obvious but now I am starting to think that the dumbass here is Strava.

Do people actually use this feature?

I only track total amount of km on each bike and I only do that for interest sake and when I want to sell a bike I can tell the person how many km it's done whilst I owned it.

Stretch is right here. You'll have to go to each activity, edit it and select the bike used. It shouldn't already have your bike selected. It should be blank with your new bike listed as the second option in the drop down.

Looks like you and stretch are correct, if I go edit the activity then it shows no bike and if I add the bike it increases the kms. Thanks guys.
