With pleasure sir. Herewith the "code" for selling as set forth by morgan and bartholomew:

Rule #1. Don't buy from anyone without at least a thousand posts

Rule #2. Don't sell anything until you have reached the 1000 post milestone

Rule #3. Don't buy and sell items to turn a profit

Rule #4. The item you are selling is not worth what you are asking but rather what people are prepared to pay for it

Rule #5. One shall ignore adverts or offers from pastors, dominees, anyone named evan

Rule #6. One shall post adverts with ALL details about the item and minimum one jpeg image of said item/s

Rule #7. One shall not lie about the condition of items being sold..

Rule #8. One shall keep the money after the sale for a period of two weeks to ensure the buyer is happy with the item.

Rule #9. One shall not use the classifieds to sell / spam items when you are a retailer without paying the appropriate dealer / advert fee to thehub

Rule #10. Be lekker, don't accept offer and then sell to another person offering more. Your word is worth more than that

I see admin didn't like my little dig in the classifieds, :-), only lasted about an hour.

One question I have is.... Why post a price and say "negotiable"? You are effectively telling me you are taking a chance...

Doing this just opens the door for low-ballers.

when the surf is up can he walk out across the water or must he paddle like the rest ? :whistling:

Well with his current case of frozen shoulder I am sure he wishes he could walk on water. Unfortunately for him walking on water happens to be Jesus' party trick only. :whistling:

If it's on the Hub, it's negotiable imo ... whether stated or not.! LOL

One can always ask but I'd rather the negotiating happens when you the goods in sight and prior to committing to purchasing especially if the goods is overpriced or overvalued based on condition. Generally if the seller has given you proper information and good clear photos then I'd go with the price he/she is asking for.

That said sellers do need to be realistic with the cost of the goods they are selling.

The Rouxminati rules :)

Personally instead of looking first and foremost at post count - I look at how long the person has been around. If the last few days just before the ad was posted, I'm likely to assume the worst.

Then if they've been around a while - they'll likely to have a marketplace history - I check ratings and comments. If ratings are good - proceed - but even then proceed with caution.

I find that people are generally lazy to rate sellers

True, however some buyers are chancers and assume that the seller is desperate - I've had some ridiculous offers! If you know the "market" and your stuff is priced accordingly - no harm in stating non-negotiable.

True, a loose assumption that can be made. If someone has been trading for a long time and they have no ratings - I take it the deal went smoothly - it's when it goes pear shaped that people will be all over that down rating.

True. Honest communication is really at the heart of a good selling/buying experience.

Definitely!  I've sold a fair amount of stuff on the Hub and even ask people to leave feedback, and so far only one person actually has.

But to be fair, you do have to go out of your way to leave feedback - it's not like eBay which sends you a reminder message to leave feedback with an easy link to do it.
