i even stick them on my campy chains cause its easier than a chain tool - been using them forever

(make sure you use the correct speed link for your chain )and never a problem

they all made in china anyways (branding means very little )

Was wondering whether paying R60 for a SRAM one or R60 for 5 noname ones was worth it...

almost worth getting a handful and using Aramex

Where do you buy yours?

I paid something around R10-20 for my SRAM powerlinks. It was years ago though, so can't remember if it was in jhb or pe.

i bought in some for vintage speed chain ones which are hard to find locally like 7 and 8 speed and got some 9/ 10 at same time - i honestly cant say i see much diff between them and kmc etc - if you fit them right and use the correct speed ..................its the same thing

on road i dont refit them over and over ( only remove chain very occasionally)  cause i use a chainpig to clean chains(very seldom) ...but they also all say( including sram and kmc)  " use once do not reuse/ refit" ...so far ive never had a prob - chuck them when chain is stretched fit new one with new chain

Bit of a thread revival... has anyone used masterlinks from Aliexpress? seem pretty well priced.

Clearly you'e never snapped a chain and humped your stem.

If your gonads (or your face, if your timing's really ***) are worth a saving of 40 bucks, go mad.

I'l go for the one with the brand name on so I've got someone to *** on if it goes wrong.

A mate of mine snapped his chain last year accelerating hard from a stop due to a faulty masterlink, ended up tearing cartialage in his knee, strained ligaiments, and went over the bars smashing his helmet and getting some nasty roasties, all while a Prado nearly took him out (this happened at a busy intersection on Lynnwood road). Had to have surgery on the knee and was off the bike for 5 months.

Not worth the risk for a R40 savings IMO....
