1983 Kuwahara Survivor (2.5)

Hey guys,

Its been a while.

I recently purchased this complete 1983 Kuwahara Survivor only for certain parts from a friend. The parts on this bike were to be used for my other bikes as it had some things on it that I needed for those.

This is what I had to buy.

When it arrived I sorted all the parts for the different bikes I needed them for I was left with this frame and fork. I never intended keeping it but after all my researching I realised that there were not many blue Kuwahara's around and I like some rarity.

I started throwing some parts at it and did a couple of mock builds and was finally happy with the current look it has now. A few things to change but this is what it looks like.

They used those in ET the Extra -Terrestrial (although those weren't blue, but red and white).

I had one as a kid - sold it for beer money while at university. Wish I hadn't now.

that is very nice. i love kuwaharas so if you ever sell that, tell me...... looks like a KZ84 frame which should have a more round top tube vs a more oval down tube.

For info - the et bike (as seen in the movie itself) was actually a kz1. (gussetted non-looptail)

following this, the ET bikes were produced for markets worldwide, and the looptail frame was chosen because it was cheaper to produce. Thus, all the bikes sold as ET1s (or KZ2.5s) were looptails.

Hey Chris.

Its Ashley from the Vintage FB page.

But yes...The Survivor 2.5 is illustrated as a loop tail but this one is the exact frame as a laserlite. Same geometry etc.

Here is a breakdown (if you dont already know) about the 3 types of Survivor (2.5's).

They are actually not the same frame set as the ET. Its the same as the Laserlite.
