So...

Roughly about 3-5 million Euros to start a Giro in the Netherlands

About 18-20 one of those to start TdF in the Hollands

Wow

Wow

I'm sure South Africa can host the opening week for cheaper than that.

It's not such a long shot, restday transition back to

France.

Sure it can be done

They could transition from Waterkloof . . . .

"It’s a much better race for riders like Mikel who like to improvise. It’s not like in the Tour where you rarely see things that aren’t pre-scripted. You get the impression in some stages of the Tour that nothing exceptional is ever going to happen, barring crashes and a few minor ripples on the surface.

“The Giro, on the other hand, is a race with a huge question mark permanently hovering over it. A quiet day just isn’t conceivable.”

Movistar manager Eusebio Unzue, explaining why the Giro is so much more gripping than the TDF in many ways.

200 kms of lumpy parcourse

Rest day over - Phew!

Who's taking glory - flat enough for some more Kittel domination? Let's see.

Hmmmm

The Via Del Fortino, 1.6km at 8% avg, 18% max and just 9km from the finish of tomorrow's stage of the Giro

That'll be exciting

Kittel, pop a gel at 15 kms to go - you'll need it, big guy.  :whistling:

Which race is it that we were astounded by his result with a mtn-ish top finish. It was now the other day.?

The breakaway specialists and the small teams will be targeting this stage. A very nice profile for a long range attempt by a small group of committed riders to think they have a chance of staying away.
